Sen. Ogunlewe, commenting on the turnout and his expectations from other primary elections, said:

“It’s good turnout and the process is very correct. We want to thank all the members of the party in C1 for coming out en mass like this to vote.

“On Monday, we are coming back for the Senatorial primary election and on Wednesday for the House of Assembly, while the Governorship primary election is on Saturday, and then, the Presidential election. So, until we finish that, then we will know how far we have gone. But at the moment, everything is going on well,” Sen. Ogunlewe said.

Aroyewun, also speaking with our reporter, also commended party members for embracing the primary election process.

“Well, the atmosphere is peaceful and calm. Our party members have come out en mass to exercise their civic pride to choose their preferred candidate, and you can see here where people are going. They have chosen where they are going, and it’s overwhelming. They have voted massively for this candidate of our party for the House of Representatives in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA from what I have seen from my moving around.”

He further said that the impressive turnout is a signal that the next general elections would also witness a large turnout of residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

“I must commend our party members; the turnout has been very impressive. This is a sign that in the general election, the numbers would be on the high side. People have shown interest; party members have been resolute in participating in the selection of their candidates. And across the wards where I have gone to, I’m impressed by their large turnout. The people have also conducted themselves in a manner that is very positive and correct.”

He urged residents of the council, especially those that are yet to register for their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) to take advantage of the ongoing registration.

“Well, we are preparing for the general election. I encourage our people to go out en mass for the voters’ registration that is ongoing. Those who have not registered should go out and register to vote. That is my message for the people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, we are looking forward to the general election. So, I urge them that the way they have shown interest here, they should show more in the general election as well.”
